Keynote themes.

  • Command teams

I provide the language and frameworks to make visible what is experienced but often hidden. I create a space where command teams can speak frankly about the real work of shared leadership—roles, boundaries, frictions, paradoxes, and the human and organizational factors shaping performance—within a safe yet disciplined environment for uncomfortable conversations. I do this to build a shared understanding that sharpens judgment, strengthens cohesion, and enhances operational effectiveness.

  • Defence and military management

I reveal the hidden architecture of military and defence management—how officer–NCM dynamics, military–civilian relations, entrenched silos and slabs, and the roles of senior enlisted leaders shape institutional outcomes. Drawing on extensive qualitative research with defence practitioners, I uncover the formal and informal mechanisms at play, from organizational design to the everyday practices that sustain or disrupt readiness, morale, and effectiveness. My talks translate these insights into clear, actionable frameworks for both military and civilian audiences.

  • Medical-administrative co-management

I draw on experience across military and civilian healthcare to translate best practices in ways that fit the context. I recognize the distinct value of both members of medical–administrative pairs and, rather than flattening differences, I work to harness the productive tensions between them. I help leaders understand each other so they can keep the partnership balanced, stop withdrawal or dominance from taking hold, and create the level of disciplined collaboration that moves decisions and results in the right direction.
